A man was stabbed in the face during a dispute in a parking lot at Kennedy International Airport on Friday afternoon, the police said.

The argument between two men began inside Terminal 8 at the airport before they moved outside to the lot, according to Ron Marsico, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. One man slashed the other man with a knife above his left eye, Mr. Marsico said.

The victim was in serious condition at Jamaica Hospital Center in Queens, with injuries that were not life threatening.

Officials said they did not know the nature of the argument between the men, which took place around 4:30 p.m.

The attacker fled in a 2007 Acura, officials said. He had not been arrested as of Friday evening.
